Artist Statement
I am a photographic artist using a digital camera to capture nature’s art. I take photographs of things that interest me in ways that show off the art and power of nature. When I am in nature taking photos it feels meditative and soul filling. I hope that I can convey that feeling through my images.
I have been influenced by the art of Georgia O’Keeffe and exposure to impressionist works (thanks Mom) as well as the love of natural beauty inherited from my Texan grandmothers. Beauty is all around us if we only look for it.
Anyone can take a picture, and to take a truly great picture I believe a sense of perspective and an eye for patterns is essential. I worked to develop my perspective and eye for many years, and mostly through experimentation. Not every picture I take will be magnificent, and yet I always strive to have at least a few that will go in my “Best of the Best” list.
I encourage everyone to be a good steward of the natural world - it's the only one we'll ever have.
