We are seeking entries for “Resilience STL”, a creative showcase spotlighting emerging and established artists in the St. Louis region. This special exhibit will take place at Webster University’s Cecille R. Hunt Gallery from June 12 - 17, 2026. “Resilience” draws inspiration from the “Resilience: A Sansei Sense of Legacy” exhibit sponsored by the STL Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) and St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum (on display through April 4). This exhibit showcases Japanese American artists whose families were incarcerated during World War II. Their pieces explore themes of memory, silence, survival and identity; they use their craft to both honor their heritage and confront the racism, hysteria, and exploitation that made incarceration possible. Our companion exhibit asks artists of all backgrounds living in the St. Louis region to consider ways in which oppression, hardship, injustice, and misfortune informs their work and inspires resilience. This exhibit seeks to build community and empathy with visual works such as drawings, paintings, collage, ceramics, photography, interactive pieces, links to video or other digital content, textiles, sculptures or other 2D/3D constructions. We recommend that you see the Resilience exhibit at the Holocaust Museum prior to April 4 for context. Up to two works can be submitted per artist.
Image of completed artwork must be submitted along with short artist bio and artist statement explaining the work's fit with the theme of resilience.
