Art by Association STL
A+A is an ongoing project dedicated to bringing the talent and unique vision of our local creative circle into the public eye through intentional exhibitions throughout the year. Inspired by the "Nothing Wasted" philosophy of resourceful craftsmanship, these shows create a shared space where independent creators can celebrate their common ground while amplifying their distinct individual voices.

Description
Art by Association, founded by Kay Rye of Sole Survivor Leather, is an ongoing project dedicated to bringing the talent and vision of those in our local creative circle into the public eye through a series of intentional exhibitions throughout the year. These exhibitions are inspired by "Nothing Wasted"—the workshop motto at Sole Survivor Leather and the core philosophy behind the artwork. By honoring the materials, time, and connections we already have, these shows highlight the depth and authenticity of independent creators who value the deliberate, hands-on process of making. A+A is built on a community of artists working together on common ground. Yet, in finding that shared space, we also begin to appreciate our differences, and our distinct individual voices are amplified through a trusted, collaborative network.

Call for Artists
What happens when a piece of industrial history becomes a blank canvas? Art by Association (A+A) invites St. Louis area artists to apply to Lasting Impressions, a unique group exhibition debuting at Sole Survivor Leather during Maplewood’s premier summer event, Let Them Eat Art on Friday, July 10th.
We are providing cast-off industrial shoe lasts—the elegant, wooden or high-density plastic forms used to shape footwear—to be reimagined through the artist's specific artistic lens. Whether you paint, carve, or apply a mixed-media vision, we want to see your "style" on the last.
